Carif-Oref of Normandy

Testimony

long-standing partner of the Carif-Oref of Normandy

Who are Carif-Oref and Didier Dumortier?

The Carif-Oref of Normandy is a Public Interest Grouping (GIP) that offers tools and services to training professionals. According to our interlocutor, Didier Dumortier, the Carif-Oref of Normandy has 33 people in 2024.
Didier Dumortier joined the group in 2009 and is now its IT manager and, as he explains, its “ […] role is to ensure the follow-up of all servers, updates, maintenance, the implementation of virtual servers. ».

Regarding the choice of Open Source “[…] my colleagues were not difficult to convince”

When we talk to him about working with téïcéeDidier Dumortier says it's not new! It actually started in 2017 when, with the merger of the two Normandy regions, the Carif-Oref of Normandy has brought together under this new surname the two previous groupings of Haute and Basse-Normandie. As Didier Dumortier points out, choosing Open Source had become obvious.

« When we merged, they had ESX servers in Lower Normandy, VMWare. They had a huge annual bill and so we quickly agreed that the solution Proxmox VE was the right solution to host all our virtual servers. We then called for tenders along those lines. ” and Didier Dumortier adds: “ my colleagues from Lower Normandy were not difficult to convince… We are on fairly important positions in terms of economy of scale and it is true that we save money spent on licenses, especially for servers, because I prefer to pay support to téïcée and really have competent people on our tools. I prefer that we be completely autonomous rather than paying licenses in a vacuum for complete tools but perhaps too advanced compared to what we need. ».

« Teïcée's answer was in agreement with Open Source, without additional license fees »

It is in these circumstances that téïcée won the initial call for tenders for the creation of an infrastructure capable of hosting the applications and servers of the two structures, Haute and Basse-Normandie, combined. During this mission téïcée ensured not only the implementation of servers, but also that of the virtualization system Proxmox VE as well as the transfer of competences. As soon as he answers, téïcée proved convincing, in particular thanks to its skills in the field of free: “ […] téïcée nous paraissait apporter la bonne réponse parce que c’était très flexible et en accord avec l’idée de logiciel Open Source sans surcoût de licence et de coût extrême de maintenance. On avait la main sur nos outils et c’est ce qui nous plaisait dans la réponse de téïcée at the time ».

Didier Dumortier, for his part, already shared the same values, the same philosophy with regard to Open Source “ When I arrived here, a service provider had already set up an open source virtualization system that was a bit tinkered with but worked well. And so it was from there that I gained competence over the whole game Proxmox and the virtualization tools that were open source. So, the Open Source philosophy I had already had for eight years when we started
work with téïcée.
».

« Teïcée's response is not swollen with useless things. It meets our needs well »

But much more, téïcée has been able to build long-term trust with the Carif-Oref of Normandy grâce notamment à son sens du service et de l’écoute. « The response of téïcée is not swollen with useless things. It meets our needs and it is well enough explained that we are able to say that we take, that we do not take. We don't feel like we have hidden costs... the goal of téïcée It's not about doing business at all costs, but above all, it's about responding to our needs in a clear way. ».

Funded by the State and the Region to a large extent, Carif-Oref of Normandy It is obliged to ensure public money and to favor the most reliable and least expensive solutions.

A sometimes difficult and delicate mission in which téïcée has become a trusted partner

Building a relationship of trust is a priority for téïcée

What Didier Dumortier calls “a very good contact”, founded a long-term relationship, “since we have always worked with téïcée on one-off needs, which will be the replacement of a firewall for example.”
Finally when at téïcée we display as a value “the reason for your trust”, we also mean by “trust” the sense of listening, service and respect for the interests of our customers. A state of mind that is always more appreciated and that has been bearing fruit for many years.
